Meeting: State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety and the members of its Public council

On March 1, 2017, was held a meeting of a management of State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety (DSBT) with the members of its Public council. During the meeting Boris Babin on behalf of the Ukrainian independent maritime labor union discussed with the management of service the situation connected with the increased corruption risks in the system of seamen’s certification, with problems of the state control of the training centers activities, with need of respect of the relevant STCW standards by Ukraine in anticipation of IMO check. The head of the Service Mikhail Nonyak confirmed a line of the body about the necessity of the fastest Convention ratification and specified the impossibility of effect the destiny of the relevant bill efficiently, which has been “salted away” for free years in the Ministry of infrastructure specialized department. DSBT’s management forms a positive estimate both the creation of the Ukrainian national platform of maritime labor unions and the development of a standard sample of the collective agreement with a foreign shipowner by the platform. It was noted that this standard of the collective agreement will allow providing of a necessary IMO requirements execution order concerning the navigation safety on vessels.
