Ukraine’s largest port operator, TIS Group, has regained full control over its container terminal and tug operations in the port of Pivdennyi, following the buyback of stakes from DP World.
According to market sources, TIS has completed the acquisition of its partners’ shares in both the container terminal and the P&O Maritime Ukraine tug business. The value and detailed terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
The development was later confirmed by DP World. The company stated that it has sold its 51% stake in the container terminal back to TIS, along with the associated marine services business.
All necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained, and the transaction has been completed.
The container terminal stake had originally been acquired by DP World in 2020 as part of a major foreign investment deal in Ukraine’s transport sector.
The partnership followed an earlier joint project – the tug business P&O Maritime Ukraine, which had been operating in Pivdennyi since 2018.
The latest transaction effectively returns full ownership of both the container terminal and tug operations to TIS Group.
TIS (Transinvestservice), founded in 1994, operates in the port of Pivdennyi and is considered a key logistics hub for Ukrainian exports, with extensive rail infrastructure and significant cargo-handling capacity.
Following the consolidation, TIS becomes the sole owner of its container and tug segments, allowing it to manage these operations independently.
