Three main cargo flows of the port of Odessa are grain in bulk, ferrous metals and containers, in January-July of this year have kept positive transfer dynamics. The first two line items have added respectively 3,1% and 2,0%. So, the result on grain in the reporting period has constituted 4 373,4 thousand tons (+ 132,3 thousand tons by January-July, 2015), on metal freights – 3 577,6 thousand tons (+ 71,1 thousand tons).
At the same time, container flow shows impressive growth: + 30,4% (3 811,5 thousand tons against 2 922,9 thousand tons in the same period of 2015) and + 28,4% in piece expression (269 475 TEU against 209 800 TEU).
The following three line items in the freight nomenclature (which traditionally influence cargo transfer statistics) for January-July of this year have shown negative dynamics:
– construction in bulk: 163,5 thousand tons (93,9% by the same period of the last year);
– other dry: 362,6 thousand tons (73,1%);
– ore in bulk: 13,1 thousand tons (3,4%).
Here it should be noted that decline of ore practically to zero is a consequence of purposeful policy of port administration on reorientation of the entity to transfering of environmentally friendly cargoes.
Also growth of citrus and banana transfer in the reporting period attracts attention: + 92,2% by January-July, 2015. This tendency is almost imperceptible in one of the largest ports transfer totals, but is remarkable in itself as the indicator of some revival of purchasing power. In total for January-July, 2016 12,3 thousand tons of citrus and bananas have been imported into the country through the port of Odessa.
