In October, Evergreen ordered a batch of LNG dual-fuel containerships in China and South Korea. According to market sources, the Taiwanese carrier placed a contract for 14 vessels, with total costs reaching $2.8 billion.
Greek broker Intermodal reports Evergreen split the order equally between Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). Each 14,000 TEU vessel costs about $200 million.
The ships are set for delivery between 2028 and 2030.
This new order follows Evergreen’s February 2025 deal for eleven 24,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel ships. That contract also divided the vessels between Chinese and Korean shipyards.
Evergreen is the world’s seventh largest container carrier. Its fleet will soon surpass 2 million TEU capacity.
