Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has entered into a new agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to add three more cruise ships to its long‑term fleet plan, extending its order book through 2037.
The fresh order adds one vessel each for NCLH’s three brands – Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Each of the new ships will be constructed at Fincantieri’s shipyards in Italy, with scheduled deliveries between 2036 and 2037.
Under the agreement, the ship for Norwegian Cruise Line will be a sister ship to an existing planned class of ultra‑large vessels (around 227,000 gross tons with more than 5,000 berths). The new Oceania vessel will follow the Oceania Sonata design (86,000 GT and around 1,390 berths), and the Regent ship will mirror the Seven Seas Prestige class (77,000 GT and around 822 berths). All three designs emphasise modern amenities, environmental performance and passenger comfort.
The expanded order brings NCLH’s total newbuild commitments to 17 cruise ships on order through 2037, including eight for Norwegian Cruise Line, five for Oceania Cruises and four for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. This fleet pipeline supports an expected 4% compound annual growth rate in capacity from 2026 through 2037, according to company projections.
Recent key construction milestones include the Seven Seas Prestige, floated out in late 2025 and due in service in late 2026, and the keel block for Oceania Sonata, which was laid in early 2026 for delivery in 2027. Norwegian’s larger ultra‑large cruise ships are planned to enter service from 2030 onward, with successive sister ships delivered through 2037.
