Crystal Cruises has confirmed an order with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for a third luxury cruise ship as the company continues its fleet expansion under A&K Travel Group.

The new vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2034 and was included as an option in the agreement signed by Crystal and Fincantieri in 2024. It will become the third ship in Crystal’s next-generation fleet programme.

The first vessel, Crystal Grace, is under construction and expected to enter service in 2028. A second sister ship is scheduled for delivery in May 2031.

The new ships are part of Crystal’s plan to rebuild its presence in the luxury cruise sector after returning to operations in 2023. The company currently operates Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, which resumed service after major refurbishments.

Fincantieri will build the new vessels at its Marghera shipyard in Italy. Each ship will measure about 61,800 gross tons and carry around 650 passengers based on double occupancy.

Crystal said the ships will feature all-suite accommodation, with every suite including a private veranda. The design will also include a wrap-around promenade, outdoor spaces and multiple dining venues.

The order comes as competition grows in the luxury cruise market, with operators investing in new high-end vessels. Fincantieri has recently built ships for luxury and premium brands including Viking, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises.

A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal and its two ships in 2022 after former owner Genting Hong Kong filed for bankruptcy. The company invested about $170 million in refurbishment before the vessels returned to service in 2023.
