In support of the deployment of The Ocean Cleanup trash removal system Maersk Supply Service has agreed to continue the AHTS Maersk Launcher.
The main aim is removing plastic debris from the North Pacific. It can be called the first large-scale initiative of its kind.
According to scientific men of the Helmholtz Centre, about ten Asian and African river systems account for as much as 95 % of ocean plastic pollution worldwide, and six of ten flow into the seas of the Western Pacific area. The Ocean Cleanup explored this problem and clarified, that 85 % of the total pollution moves from Asia.
