A landing craft tank, LCT Felicity 8, ran aground off Barangay Wawa Ibaba, Lemery, in Batangas province after seeking shelter in Pagapas Bay, Calatagan. Strong winds and currents attributed to Typhoon Uwan caused the vessel to drift into shallower waters, where it became grounded.

Upon arrival, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office verified that the vessel was stable, the crew were safe and in good condition, and no oil leak or pollution had been detected.

The PCG instructed the operator to deploy a tug to assist with a safe tow-off and launched a marine casualty investigation to determine the underlying causes and address compliance and navigational protocol matters.

Local monitoring continues under coordination between CGSS Lemery, the vessel’s master, and other response agencies to ensure safe recovery operations.
