Bulk carrier aground in the Black sea

Bulk carrier RIO (flag – Togolese Rep) contacted with Novorossiysk Port Authroties and requested tugs to avoid imminent grounding. It happened on 12 December. The ship grounded on southern coast of Novorossiysk Bay, being impacted by strong wind and heavy sea. It is known, that the tugs weren’t able to leave port because of stormy weather. The ship was still aground, no visible hull damages. The crew remain on board and the port tug TOROPLIVIY is on standby.Bulk carrier RIO arrived from Turkey.
