Sallaum Lines has taken delivery of two new LNG dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), marking a significant expansion of its Ocean Class fleet as the company advances its environmental strategy in the roll-on/roll-off sector.

The MV Ocean Explorer and MV Ocean Legacy are the latest additions to the company’s next-generation car carrier portfolio, designed to comply with stringent international environmental standards while improving operational efficiency across global trade routes.

MV Ocean Explorer, constructed by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd., measures 199.90 meters in length with a beam of 38 meters and can carry up to 7,500 car equivalent units (CEU) across 13 decks. The vessel is equipped with an LNG fuel system with a total capacity of 3,536.21 cubic meters.

MV Ocean Legacy, built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, is approximately 199.90 meters long with a beam of 37.7 meters and a capacity of 7,400 CEU distributed over 13 cargo decks. The ship features LNG storage capacity ranging between 36 and 37.8 tons.

Both vessels are fitted with advanced LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems, significantly reducing CO₂, NOx, SOx, and particulate emissions compared to conventional fuel oil systems.

The deliveries follow the company’s strategic repositioning, including relocating its headquarters from Switzerland to Limassol, Cyprus in October 2025. Sallaum Lines has also begun registering vessels under the Cyprus flag, with Ocean Breeze and Ocean Legacy now officially Cyprus-flagged.

The Ocean Class vessels form the core of the company’s fleet development strategy. The 7,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel design enables fuel consumption savings, improved energy efficiency, and reduced operating costs while ensuring compliance with current and forthcoming environmental regulations.

The expansion comes amid broader modernization efforts, including six additional dual-fuel PCTCs on order and a €20 million investment at the company’s terminal in Antwerp, Belgium.
